Amélie Pichard, Creative Director for the September 2025 edition: a subversive vision of design and creativity.
Amélie Pichard, one of the boldest minds in fashion, embodies a radical vision that defies categorization. As a creative design researcher, she constantly pushes the limits, crossing categories, bending the rules, and embracing the unexpected. She started with handbags that became iconic and boutiques that were immersive experiences, leaving a lasting impression. Today, her work ranges well beyond accessories, exploring a multitude of creative forms: curating, consulting, artistic collaborations, and reflections on new ways of living and making things. A free and uncompromising spirit, Amélie Pichard keeps transforming aesthetics into a statement and making the unexpected a driving force in her approach.
Asked about the theme of Renewal, Amélie shares her thoughts, grounded in her life experience. "I’m very sensitive to the world around me, and the world has changed so much in the past fifteen years. I decided to follow my intuitions and beliefs and explore new ways of doing things. I left Paris to move to the countryside and work remotely, with my team scattered all over the place. For two years, we achieved a great deal, despite doubts from outsiders. " Amélie also mentions the establishment of her creative agency, Bureau Synthétique: "It was the result of my personal desires. For me, renewal happens through breaking down barriers between categories and through exploration. "
In line with Maison&Objet’s September edition devoted to the new generation of design, Amélie shares a powerful message with us: "Be yourselves, because others’ roles are already taken. You have to cultivate your difference and learn to make use of your fundamentals. Like jazz musicians who improvise, it’s essential to know your range before you step boldly ahead. " This vision encourages boldness and irreverence, at a time when we are constantly under the lens of social media.
Amélie Pichard has always advocated for an opening between different fields, materials, and ideas. "I don’t like labels. This has pushed me to move beyond categories, sometimes without even realizing it, always in the spirit of building bridges between tradition and innovation. " Her work with Pamela Anderson is one example of this: Amélie refuses to make binary choices, such as between leather and vegan materials. In her designs, she combines craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, reflecting her ambivalence through a rich and unique aesthetic. Amélie Pichard brings to the table an open-minded, eclectic vision of design, breaking free from convention to offer an approach in which the object becomes a manifesto for creativity and independence.
